I trained as an Orthopedic Surgeon under Dr. Steadman and Dr. Hawkins in 1993 and then joined them in practice in 1994, practicing with them until 2011.  I think I was asked to be part of every complicated procedure Dr. Steadman performed during that time, and I would not trade my experiences there for anything in the world.  Other than Shirley Carlson, his long time surgical nurse, no other person has scrubbed in to more surgery with Dr. Steadman than myself.

A wealth of surgical experience for sure, but what I really learned from Dr.s Steadman and Hawkins was how to treat people.   They were true gentlemen with their patients and I hope I am doing a reasonable job emulating them in my practice.  Dr. Hawkins is still going strong in South Carolina and we stay in close contact.  Dr. Steadman retired this year after more than 40 years of practice and I wish him the very best.
